Effective, fast treatment for sleep apnea that is also comfortable, portable, and easy to maintain

Have you been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea? But you dread the thought of a doctor prescribing you CPAP therapy? While effective, this type of sleep apnea treatment is not well tolerated. So, compliance or regular use of CPAP is low. Patients then start at square one. Since they don’t use their treatment, they continue to suffer from the often debilitating symptoms of OSA – the persistent exhaustion, brain fog, chronic migraines, and so on. Alarming complications, from heart disease to stroke, continue to present threats to their health.

Fortunately, we can recommend alternatives to CPAP therapy at VIA Health Group in Canton, Ohio. These alternatives are generally easy-to-wear, easy-to-care-for, quiet, and non-invasive. Furthermore, the treatments Dr. Jeff Danner prescribes are proven effective and safe. They get to the root cause of sleep-disordered breathing to provide real relief and treatment. This approach to therapy supports a lifetime of good health and is not dependent on the regular use of bulky, noisy equipment that is likely not to be worn nightly.

The problem with CPAP

CPAP stands for “continuous positive airway pressure.” It is considered to be an effective and time-tested way to treat OSA. A CPAP machine delivers air pressure to the patient through a tube. This tube or hose is attached to a nasal mask. As an individual diagnosed with sleep apnea, you would wear the mask during sleep. So, forced air could be consistently delivered to you. That way, when your airway is obstructed or narrowed due to lax tissues or blockages, you have an uninterrupted air supply. You are not starved for oxygen, potentially dozens of times each night.

The mask takes some getting used to, and some patients never become accustomed to wearing a mask while sleeping. The CPAP machine can also be noisy and may interfere with a spouse’s or partner’s ability to sleep soundly and without interruption. The CPAP parts require ongoing cleaning and maintenance, and the machine and its components are not portable and easy to transport.

An easy, comfortable alternative that gets used!

At VIA Health Group, we may instead recommend the Vivos® method. Vivos® spans an array of oral appliances or devices. These devices are worn to address the anatomical imbalances or structural abnormalities that give rise to sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea. This form of treatment is an alternative to cumbersome CPAP therapy and potentially risky and invasive surgical procedures that cut and adjust the position of the lower jaw.
